The Lawyer Strategy Summit 2012

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT
FOR IN-HOUSE COUNSEL

7-9 March 2012 • Penha Longa • Lisbon

Welcome to the Lawyer Summit 2012.

It's not quite the end of the world as some have predicted, but we do live in interesting times and - as the Chinese saying states - this is no blessing. But for the legal professional, this provides an opportunity to prove his or her value to the business.

Everywhere you look there is uncertainty - in the stock markets, currency exchanges or beyond - which makes the typical board's job of planning and investment more of a challenge than ever before. This is an era of regulatory change and shifting business environments and in these uncertain times, the lawyer can bring many skills to the table. This is one of the many reasons The Lawyer Summit returns in March, right before the planning stages for the new tax and financial year and just in time for you to be able to learn the latest legal trends and share front line experiences with your peers.

This year's programme includes sessions on legal risk management, game theory, people management and board-level business skills. The summit will also address those ever thorny issues of recruitment and retention, training, IT, compliance and partnering. The summit will also cover the latest legal trends and developments in the core issues facing you, your stakeholders and clients today - including corporate and M&A, tax, compliance, competition law, dispute resolution and IP.

There will also be a special focus on social media in the business environment: how do you get the most out of about corporate blogs, twitter and the like - and more importantly, how can you get a handle on the legal issues that might arise from them. On that note, this year's summit will be fully interactive - with many of our staff and
journalists tweeting and blogging about the exciting issues that emerge over the two days. With this in mind, we will provide a quick intro session on how to find us online and how you can get involved too.

On top of this, you will also find sessions examining comparative jurisdictional issues, cross border challenges, and we'`ll be taking a close look at legal trends in the emerging markets - with a particular focus on BRIC. So you'll find plenty to learn about. But as they say - you learn more when you are having a good time - and this year we will be making a special effort to ensure that you can maximise the many networking opportunities we will lay on for you.

I look forward to meeting with you in March. In the meantime, if you've got any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to pick up the phone or drop me an email.

Testimonial

"As a first time in-house counsel attendee, I was not sure what to expect from the Summit or whether I would get much out of it. It provided an excellent opportunity to network in a relaxed business-like environment where you could exchange views with other in-house counsel and private practice solicitors.
I made some great new contacts and attended some very worthwhile seminars. The Summit was exceptionally good value, held at a fantastic venue
and all in all I took a lot away from it."
